What I learned from failing English
January 28 2015
I learned many things by failing English, but one of the most important things is that I always have to try my best the first time. While working on my Social Studies project, I tried to get it done as fast as I could. While doing that, I did not put enough effort into my work and ended up having to fix it two times. I think that it is something that I do in all of my subjects. From failing English, I finally realized it.
The next thing that I learned is, when writing a story or an essay, making an outline helps. It makes things easier. If your project blows up in your face, and you have the outline, you can go back and redo it. I think that if I had outlined this project, I would probably have had a chance for success. So failing English has taught me to never take the easy way out.
The last thing is something that everyone should know, when to ask for help. During this project, if I had asked for help, from my parents, from the teacher in the room, or from any other teacher, I would be in a different situation right now. If I had asked for help when my project was destroyed, or when I decided to start an essay, I could have done a better job on the project.
So maybe I was wrong when I said that doing my best was the most important thing, maybe the big lesson was asking for help. One thing that I am sure about is that this fail taught me a couple of important life lessons.
